düsseldorf: unifa presents jeff rudes & j brand

Anlässlich der CPD Signatures kam am vergangenen Sonntag niemand Geringeres als Jeff Rudes, Chefdesigner des kalifornischen Fashion Labels J Brand, mit seinem Team in den Showroom von Unifa in den Düsseldorfer Medienhafen und nahm sich den ganzen Tag Zeit, um Journalisten und Bloggern einen Einblick in die S/S 12 Kollektion zu geben und Fragen rund um J Brand zu beantworten! Ich sage direkt vorab: rosige Aussichten :D

During CPD Signatures (something like a fashion week in Düsseldorf), Jeff Rudes, founder and designer of the Californian fashion label J Brand, visited Unifa's showroom with his team and took the time to answer questions about J Brand and its S/S 12 collection. I can tell you: We can look forward to it :D

Part I: Unifa Showroom

Zuerst ging es für Sonja und mich durch den Showroom von Unifa (an dieser Stelle nochmal: Danke für die tolle Führung, Laura!) und so haben wir natürlich direkt erste Lieblinge für S/S 12 entdeckt :)

At the beginning, Sonja and I went to see Unifa's showroom (thanks again to Laura for the great tour!) and spotted some darlings for the upcoming S/S 12 season :)


... wie zum Beispiel die Oberteile von Joie: Luftige Blusen für heiße Tage und leichte, grobmaschige Pullis für kühle Abende

Auch Wildfox setzt auf Blau und Weiß, vor allem aber auch auf Pastelltöne:

Der Showroom ist was fürs Auge! Das farbliche Arrangement ist absolut inspirierend für mich gewesen und ich hätte in jeder Ecke Stunden mit Stöbern und Fotografieren verbringen können :D

The showroom is just like eye-candy! The organisation of colours was so inspiring for me and I could have stayed for hours here and there, just taking photos and discovering the collections :D



Super begeistert war ich von der neuen Richtung des deutschen Labels Amor & Psyche: Kräftige Farben...

I love the Amore & Psyche pieces I saw. The German label moves in a new direction with bold colours...


... sowie feminine, verspielte Akzente gibt es ab dem nächsten Sommer. Die Marke werde ich ab sofort definitiv im Auge behalten!

Die bunten Hosen können im Schrank bleiben, aber vielleicht sollte man sich noch ein Modell von Hudson anlegen: Die Hosen sind nämlich aus luftigem Leinen und sind so auch bei heißen Temperaturen locker zu tragen und sicherlich angenehmer als dicker, fester Jeansstoff :)

Keep colourful trousers in your wardrobe and consider purchasing pants by Hudson: These trousers are made of linen so that they're comfortable to wear when temperatures get hot :)

Meine neue große Liebe: Blusen von Equipment (bitte französisch aussprechen)! Fotografiert hab ich leider nur die dunklen Modelle, die farbenprächtigen waren aber mindestens genauso umwerfend. Die Stoffe sind weich und fließend... Equipment ist ein Traum und unbedingtes Must-have!

My new love: Blouses by Equipment (French pronunciation, please)! I only took pictures of the rather dark part of clothing, but the colourful pieces were at least equally gorgeous. The fabric is soft and flowing... The blouses are fantastic, an absolute must-have!

Part II: Meeting Jeff Rudes

Kate Middleton hat in ihrem Urlaub vor zwei Wochen jeden Tag J Brand Jeans getragen. Kate Bosworth trug den ganzen Sommer über die berühmten Cargo-Hosen, die überall ausverkauft sind. Anna Wintour schwört auf J Brand. Hallo, ANNA WINTOUR! Brauch ich noch mehr zu sagen? ;)
Und ich durfte mit Gründer und Designer Jeff Rudes quatschen - darüber, wofür J Brand steht, was die Marke so einzigartig macht, und natürlich was die nächste Kollektion bringen wird!

Kate Middleton was wearing J Brand jeans everyday during her holiday two weeks ago. Kate Bosworth was wearing the famous Cargo pants all summer long. Anna Wintour favours denim by J Brand. I mean, I'm talking about ANNA WINTOUR! Guess I don't need to say more ;)
Last Sunday I had the chance to talk about the label with founder and designer Jeff Rudes. The topics: What does J Brand stand for? What makes it unique? And what will the S/S 12 collection be like? See below to find the answers :)

Kate Bosworth und DIE Cargo-Hose - der Verkaufsschlager schlechthin!

J Brand beschrieben in drei Wörtern? "Timeless, sophisticated and pure" kommt es wie aus der Pistole geschossen. (Spätestens ab da war ich vollkommen hin und weg von Jeff und dem Konzept, das der Marke zugrunde liegt!)
Exakt die Einstellung spiegelt sich auch in den Kampagnenbildern wieder: Die internen Bildernamen wie Jackie O, Berlin Burlesque, Biker Chic oder The French Look passen zum Gesamtkonzept; Models oben ohne gibt's nicht, und das braucht es auch nicht - die Aufnahmen überzeugen mühelos mit Stil, Klasse und Eleganz.

"Describe J Brands with three words!", I asked Jeff, who immediately answered: "Timeless, sophisticated and pure" (I guess from this moment on I had fallen in love with the concept of J Brand!)
Exactly this attitude is reflected in the campaign images: The photos receive names or headings such as Jackie O, Berlin Burlesque, Biker Chic or The French Look, which obviously fits so well to the concept. Plus, you won't see any models posing topless (remember, it's all about sophisticated fashion!), which perfectly underlines the label's style, class and elegance.


Neben engen Lederhosen und Premium Denim wird es S/S 12 auch noch Lederjacken sowie Shirts aus Seide und Viskose geben. Hochgeschlossene Hosen habe ich mit der Kamera zwar nicht festgehalten, aber sie sind auch in der nächsten Saison wieder fester Bestandteil der Kollektion. Die Farbpalette wird überdies erweitert: Die Töne werden mit Pastell und Nude softer.

Skinny leather pants, premium denim pants and of course J Brand's popular high-waisted pants, but also leather jackets and shirts made of silk and viscose will be part of the S/S 12 collection. Furthermore, you will find a lot more softer colours, such as pastel and nude tones.


Der absolute Knaller: Die Textur der linken Röhre! Das Pythonmuster ist nicht bloß ein einfacher glatter Aufdruck, sondern hat eine richtig "greifbare" Struktur. Denn jede Hose hat, so Jeff, ihre ganz besondere Eigenart, die sie unverwechselbar macht; und jede Saison gibt es ein in der Form noch die da gewesenens Novum. Bei J Brand geht es nämlich nicht nur um eine tolle Form der Jeans, sondern auch um schmeichelnde Muster und Details.

Fabulous: The fabric of the left pair of skinnies! The python pattern is not only a print, but has a real texture that you feel when touching it. Jeff explained to me that every pair of pants has its unique character, and every season there is an element of novelty that can be found in the collection. In addition to that, it's not only paid attention to a great shape of the jeans, but also to figure-flattering patterns and details.

Sympathisch: Jeffs Team hat auf sein iPad sämtliche Spiele geladen :D (Und die beiden mussten total lachen, als ich erzählt hab, dass mein Bruder sich das iPad meines Vaters unter den Nagel gerissen und es auch seitenweise mit Spielen beladen hat :D) Jeff ist echt total cool und entspannt drauf und mit ihm zu quatschen war interessant und hat echt Spaß gemacht! J Brand hat ab jetzt einen Fan mehr auf dieser Welt :)

So cute: Jeff's team has loaded lots of games on his iPad :D (The two laughed so much when I told them about my brother, having stolen my father's iPad in order to play millions of games on it :D) Jeff is really a cool person, and it was fun and interesting to talk to him! J Brand's got a new fan :)

Part III - The unexpected

Und am Ende haben Sonja und ich je eine J Brand Jeans geschenkt bekommen - wir sind AUS ALLEN WOLKEN GEFALLEN! Ein riesengroßes DANKESCHÖN an Unifa & besonders an Katharina und natürlich an Jeff und Beth! :)
... Das Beste daran ist, dass uns die Hosen einfach sowas von gut passen. Wir hatten die Modelle vorher nicht anprobiert und man weiß ja nie, wie dieses und jenes Modell größenmäßig jetzt ausfällt. Aber was soll ich sagen, das Attribut Premium Denim ist absolut gerechtfertigt! Die Röhre ist die bestsitzende Hose, die ich je besaß - ehrlich! Aber davon überzeugt ihr euch am Besten selbst, wenn ich sie in einem der nächsten Posts vorstelle :)

At the end Sonja and I were given a J Brand jeans - we were so speechless! A huge THANKS to Unifa & especially to Katharina and of course to Jeff and Beth! :)
... What is truly amazing is that the jeans fit so damn well! We didn't try the pants on, so we couldn't be sure whether they would be too big or too small (usually you can't trust the sizes). But everything's perfectly fine, and now I know that it's really true that J Brand jeans are famous for their premium quality and fit! See for yourself in one of the next posts :)
